Needlepoint Designers are an ever-growing breed.
Historically - the people who designed needlepoint usually worked for large companies who commercialized their designs under a common name - brand.
The designs were reproduced on needlepoint canvas by silk-screen - - a very expensive investment - as each color needed to be separated onto a single screen and later carefully printed onto the canvas.
Today - the designers are independent - with their own marketing teams. Yes - the tables have somewhat turned !
The reproduction techniques have diversified into hand-painted canvases - stitch painting - as well as printing on computerized printers.
Transfer papers - heat transfer designs and there are still many silk-screeners around.
